Frequently asked questions

ChatGPT + social media, answered. Last updated June 2026.

Can ChatGPT post to social media?

Yes. Connect ChatGPT to the Upload-Post MCP server as a custom connector and it can publish, schedule and analyze posts on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, X and 7 more networks — directly from a conversation.

Which ChatGPT plan do I need?

Custom MCP connectors require a paid plan: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu, using ChatGPT on the web with Developer mode enabled.

Does ChatGPT need my social media passwords?

No. You authorize once through OAuth with your Upload-Post account, and Upload-Post holds the platform connections. ChatGPT only calls documented tools — it never sees your passwords.

Can ChatGPT schedule posts for later?

Yes. Ask in plain English — "schedule this for Friday at 9am" — and the connector creates a scheduled post. You can list, edit or cancel scheduled posts the same way.

Is the connector free?

The MCP server is free and open-source (MIT). It works with any Upload-Post plan, including the free tier — you just need an Upload-Post account.

What is the difference between this and a GPT or plugin?

MCP connectors are the successor to plugins: an open standard that gives ChatGPT real, documented tools with OAuth security. The same Upload-Post server also works in Claude, Gemini and any MCP-compatible agent.
