OpenStory now publishes your AI films to social media
The open-source AI film studio has Upload-Post built in. Render your cut, open the Download menu, and send it to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and Bluesky in one step.
What is OpenStory?
OpenStory is an open-source studio for making five-minute AI films with consistent characters. You write the story, iterate on scenes and shots until they work, and render the final cut. It is free to self-host, and the code is on GitHub.
Until now, a finished film ended up as an MP4 in your downloads folder, and getting it in front of an audience meant uploading it by hand to every platform. As of this week, OpenStory does that for you.
How it works
- Connect your accounts once. Create a free Upload-Post account, add a profile and connect the social accounts you post to.
- Add your API key to OpenStory. Paste it under Settings → API Keys → Publishing.
- Publish. With a rendered cut, open the Download menu and choose Publish to social…. Pick the profile, the platforms, a caption, and review exactly what will be posted before anything is sent.
The dialog then follows every platform and shows a link to each published post, or the exact reason a platform turned it down.
Built to be safe with a public action
Posting to social accounts is public and hard to undo, so the integration is careful by design:
- Invisible until you opt in. Teams without an Upload-Post key see no publishing option at all.
- Review step. Nothing is posted until you confirm the exact caption, platforms and visibility.
- Private by default on YouTube, and TikTok can post as "Only me" while you test.
- No duplicates. Every publish has an idempotency key, so a double click, a retry or a reopened dialog resumes the same post instead of sending it twice.
- AI labels. OpenStory films are AI-generated, so posts carry each platform's AI content label automatically.
Thank you, OpenStory
Thanks to the OpenStory team for a careful review and for merging the integration. They are already working on publishing single clips and images too, and we look forward to building that with them.
