What is OpenStory?

OpenStory is an open-source AI film studio for making five-minute films with consistent characters. You write the story, iterate on scenes and shots until they land, and render the final cut. It is free to self-host or available hosted at openstory.so. With Upload-Post built in, that final cut goes straight to your audience instead of sitting in a downloads folder.

Set it up in three steps

Connect your accounts

Create a free Upload-Post account, create a profile and connect the social accounts you want to post to.

Add your API key

Copy your key from the API Keys page and paste it in OpenStory under Settings → API Keys → Publishing.

Publish your cut

Render your film, open the Download menu and choose Publish to social…. Pick a profile, platforms and caption, review, publish.

Built for publishing AI films safely

Review before anything goes out

The dialog shows exactly what will be posted on each platform. Nothing is sent until you confirm. YouTube uploads default to private, and TikTok can post as "Only me".

Never posts twice

Every publish carries an idempotency key. A double click, a retry or a reopened dialog picks up the existing post instead of sending a duplicate.

AI labels handled for you

OpenStory films are AI-generated, so posts carry each platform's AI content label automatically. See our guide to AI content labeling.

Per-platform results

Follow every destination live: a link to the published post, a skipped platform with no connected account, or the exact reason a platform refused it.
