How to post to a LinkedIn company page through the API Without applying for LinkedIn’s Community Management API
To post as a company page, an app needs the w_organization_social permission from LinkedIn’s Community Management API. LinkedIn grants it only to registered organizations after a review, and the self-serve Share on LinkedIn product only posts as a member. The shortcut is an app that already has access: connect LinkedIn to Upload-Post, pick the page and post with one call.
Which LinkedIn permission posts as a company page
Posting as yourself is self-serve. Posting as a page is not.
| Goal | LinkedIn product | Permission | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Post as yourself (a member) | Share on LinkedIn | w_member_social | Self-serve |
| Post as a company page | Community Management API | w_organization_social | Vetted: Development tier, then Standard tier |
| Read page posts, comments and analytics | Community Management API | r_organization_social and page analytics | Vetted |
The member who authorizes also needs the administrator, content admin or sponsored content poster role on the page. Sources: Community Management API overview, organization access control by role.
What LinkedIn asks before it grants page posting
From LinkedIn’s Community Management app review page.
- A registered legal organization with a commercial use case. LinkedIn does not grant it to individuals.
- A business email address that LinkedIn verifies. Personal addresses do not pass the vetting.
- Your organization’s legal name, registered address, website and privacy policy.
- A super admin of your organization’s LinkedIn Page verifies the app.
- No part of the LinkedIn or Microsoft names or logos in the app.
- Development tier first, with limited API call volume. Standard tier needs a finished integration, test credentials and a screen recording of every use case.
- If the request is rejected, you create a new app and apply again; the same app cannot re-apply.
That review makes sense if you are building a product that manages many companies’ pages. If you only need to publish to your own page, or to your clients’ pages, from a script, a workflow or an AI agent, posting through an app that already passed it saves the application.

Post to your LinkedIn page in three steps
Upload-Post already has Community Management API access, so you only connect and post.
Connect LinkedIn with a page admin
In Upload-Post, connect the LinkedIn account of someone who administers the company page. You can pick the page for that profile while connecting.
Get the page ID
List the pages that account manages. The id field is the value to use; the full URN and the number alone both work.
Post as the page
Send the post with target_linkedin_page_id. Text, images, video and PDF documents all go through the same parameter, and scheduled_date publishes later.
curl "https://api.upload-post.com/api/uploadposts/linkedin/pages?profile=my-brand" \
-H "Authorization: Apikey YOUR_API_KEY"
# {"success": true, "pages": [
# {"id": "urn:li:organization:107579166", "name": "Your Company", ...}
# ]} curl -X POST https://api.upload-post.com/api/upload_text \
-H "Authorization: Apikey YOUR_API_KEY" \
-F "user=my-brand" \
-F "platform[]=linkedin" \
-F "title=Our Q3 hiring report is out." \
-F "target_linkedin_page_id=107579166"
Reference: Get LinkedIn pages and text posts. Videos, images and PDF documents take the same target_linkedin_page_id.
If you build it yourself: the request and the pitfalls
Once your app has w_organization_social, a text post as the page is one call to the Posts API.
curl -X POST https://api.linkedin.com/rest/posts \
-H "Authorization: Bearer ACCESS_TOKEN" \
-H "Linkedin-Version: 202610" \
-H "X-Restli-Protocol-Version: 2.0.0" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"author": "urn:li:organization:107579166",
"commentary": "Our Q3 hiring report is out.",
"visibility": "PUBLIC",
"distribution": {
"feedDistribution": "MAIN_FEED",
"targetEntities": [],
"thirdPartyDistributionChannels": []
},
"lifecycleState": "PUBLISHED",
"isReshareDisabledByAuthor": false
}'
# 201 Created, post ID in the x-restli-id response header The author must be the organization
Use urn:li:organization:{id} as the author. A person URN posts to the member’s own feed, even with the page permission.
The member needs a page role
The person who authorizes must be an administrator, content admin or sponsored content poster of the page. Other roles cannot post as it.
Every call needs a version header
Linkedin-Version takes a YYYYMM release and X-Restli-Protocol-Version must be 2.0.0. Versions are supported for at least a year; a sunset version or a missing header returns an error.
Tokens last 60 days
Refresh tokens are only issued to approved Marketing Developer Platform partners. Everyone else sends the admin back through consent every 60 days.
Adding a scope resets consent
Requesting a different set of scopes than the member granted before invalidates the earlier tokens, so plan your scopes before launch.

LinkedIn company page API: frequently asked questions
Can I post to a LinkedIn company page with the API?
Yes. Posts as a company page use the Posts API with the organization as author, which needs the w_organization_social permission from LinkedIn’s Community Management API, and the person who authorizes must be an administrator, content admin or sponsored content poster of the page.
Do I need to join the LinkedIn Partner Program to post to a page?
No. What you need is access to the Community Management API, a vetted product with its own review: Development tier first, then Standard tier. Or you can skip the application and post through an app that already has that access, such as Upload-Post.
Why can’t Share on LinkedIn post as my company page?
Share on LinkedIn only grants w_member_social, which posts as the signed-in member. Posting as an organization requires w_organization_social, which only comes with the Community Management API.
What does LinkedIn require for Community Management API access?
A registered legal organization with a commercial use case, a verified business email, the organization’s legal name, address, website and privacy policy, and a LinkedIn Page super admin who verifies the app. Standard tier also needs a screen recording of each use case.
Do LinkedIn API tokens expire?
Yes, after 60 days. Refresh tokens exist only for approved Marketing Developer Platform partners, so most apps send the page admin back through consent every 60 days. With Upload-Post the connection is refreshed for you.
Can Zapier post to a LinkedIn company page?
Yes. Zapier’s LinkedIn app has a Create Company Update action that posts text with an image or a link to a company page. For video or PDF documents, use an API that supports them, such as Upload-Post’s Zapier, Make or n8n integrations.
Can I post a PDF carousel to a LinkedIn company page?
Yes. Upload a PDF as a LinkedIn document post with target_linkedin_page_id set to the page, and LinkedIn shows it as a swipeable carousel.
Can I still post to my personal profile?
Yes. Leave target_linkedin_page_id out and the post goes to the personal profile of the connected account, unless a page was picked for that profile when it was connected.
