How to auto-post Shopify products to social media Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and Facebook

Shopify does not post new products to your feeds by itself: its Facebook and Instagram channel syncs the catalog for shops and ads. To post each new product automatically, use an App Store app, or send Shopify’s “product created” event through n8n, Make or Zapier to Upload-Post, which posts to Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook and more.

Upload-Post is our product. Apps suit a store that wants everything inside Shopify; the workflow route suits stores that also want TikTok video, YouTube Shorts or their own caption logic.

Set it up with n8n, Make or Zapier

About 20 minutes, on any Shopify plan.

  1. 1

    Connect your accounts in Upload-Post

Create a free account at app.upload-post.com and connect Instagram (Business or Creator), TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook or any other network with each one’s own login.

  2. 2

    Watch for new products

In n8n add the Shopify Trigger with “Product created”. In Make use “Watch products”, in Zapier “New Product”. Any Shopify plan can also send a “Product creation” webhook from Settings, Notifications.

  3. 3

Keep only the products you want

Filter on status active, at least one image and, if you like, a tag such as “social”. Shopify can send the event before the images are attached, so wait a minute or two before reading them.

  4. 4

    Write the caption

Use a template with the title, price and short description, or an AI step that writes one caption per network. Put the product link where it is clickable: the Pinterest link, Facebook and LinkedIn posts.

  5. 5

    Post with Upload-Post

Send the product images to “Upload Photos”: an Instagram carousel, a TikTok photo post with music, a Pinterest pin with the product link and a Facebook post, in one step. Add it to your posting queue so ten new products do not post at once.

Setup guides: n8n, Make, Zapier. On Grow, Advanced or Plus, Shopify Flow’s Send HTTP request action can call the Upload-Post API directly.

Details that make it work well

What separates a store feed that sells from one that spams.

Links

Links in Instagram and TikTok captions are not clickable. Use the Pinterest destination link, link previews on Facebook and LinkedIn, and your bio link on Instagram and TikTok.

Video for Reels and TikTok

Turn the product photos into a short vertical slideshow with Upload-Post’s FFmpeg editor API, then post it as a Reel, a TikTok video and a YouTube Short.

No duplicates

Send an Idempotency-Key header with the product ID: if the workflow retries, the post is not published twice.

No flooding

Importing a catalog fires one event per product. The posting queue spreads them over your chosen slots, for example two a day.

Shopify and social media: frequently asked questions

Can Shopify automatically post new products to Instagram?

Not by itself. The Facebook & Instagram by Meta channel syncs your catalog for shops and ads; it does not publish feed posts. Use an App Store app, or connect Shopify’s “product created” event to a posting tool such as Upload-Post through n8n, Make or Zapier.

Does the Facebook & Instagram channel post my products to my feed?

No. It creates and syncs a shop catalog, product tags for Instagram Shopping, the Meta pixel and the Conversions API. Posts in your feed still need a scheduler or an auto-post app.

How do I auto-post Shopify products to TikTok?

Send each new product to Upload-Post: the product images become a TikTok photo post with background music, or a short vertical video. Some App Store apps also post to TikTok on their paid plans.

Can product photos become a Reel or a TikTok video?

Yes. Combine the photos into a vertical slideshow with Upload-Post’s FFmpeg editor API, then publish it to Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts in one request.

Do I need Shopify Plus or Shopify Flow?

No. The n8n, Make and Zapier triggers and the admin webhook work on every plan. Shopify Flow is free on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus, but its Send HTTP request action, which calls outside APIs, needs Grow or higher.

How do I post only some products?

Filter in the workflow: by tag (“social”), by collection, by product type or by status. Products without the tag never reach the posting step.

How do I stop drafts and products without images from posting?

Add a filter for status active and at least one image, and wait a couple of minutes after the event before reading the images, because Shopify can send it before they are attached.

How often should a store post new products?

One or two products a day per network is a common rhythm. Set those slots in the posting queue and new products fill them in order.
